Intellicast  - delivers detailed weather maps online combined with constant updates throughout the day and night. sciBASE - gives you indexing (and some abstracts) from a substantial database of scientific, technical and medical research literature. sciBASE currently includes approximately 30 million articles published since 1993 in more than 30,000 journals, updated daily with approximately 10,000 new articles. World Conservation Centre Conservation Databases - The stated mission of the WCMC is to provide "information services on conservation and sustainable use of the world's living resources," and to help "others to develop information systems of their own." Discovery Health  - There is a lot of content at this searchable Discovery Channel site. There is current health news, a section on Diseases & Conditions with encyclopedias on diseases, injuries, surgery, and medical tests, and links to further references such as MEDLINE, a medical dictionary, and clinical trials. Articles by physicians about diseases and other health topics appear in the Expert Opinion section and Healthy Tools has calculators for calories burned by activity, basal metabolic rate, blood alcohol content, body mass index, cost of smoking, and heart rate. American Experience: Vietnam - This is the site for the Public Broadcasting System's controversial series "Vietnam: A Television History," released in 1983. The site's primary feature is a transcript of each of the 13 one-hour videos (which are available for viewing from the PBA library media collection). The click-on features include a fact sheet; mini-biographies of the major Vietnamese, Cambodian, and American participants; a chronology; reflections on the war by Vietnamese and Americans; essays on weapons employed by both sides, My Lai, and the M.I.A. issue; and a reference section.
