Using Backfiles

Introduction

The most recent 90 days of the New York Times are available online via ProQuest.  For the text of articles back to January 1991, CD-ROMs are mounted on a server in Technology Services.  If you are on-campus, your PalmNet computer can connect remotely to the proper drives, run a search program, find articles, and print or save results to a file in just a few simple steps.  Detailed directions follow.  For in-person help, call (561) 803-2227 or come to the PBA Library reference area.

Then press the "Display" button to view the article(s).  On the screen you will see first the bibliographic information, then below it will be an abstract giving a brief summary of the article, and following that will be the actual text of the story.

You may print from the results list screen. Or, to print while viewing a story, press the printer icon or select File -- Print from the menu..
